On the morning of this year's slava, I was delegated to take the cooked wheat berries or koljivo
to church to be sanctified under St. George's icon.
The priest prayed to St. George for the health and well-being of the families who celebrate him as their patron saint.
The woman in the lilac vest is a cousin of ours and a regular guest at my family's slava.
She does not celebrate slava but still makes and brings a bread to church every year as a sign of gratitude to St. George for her son's surviving a near-death experience in the Bosnian war.
Here are some of the slava breads that were brought to the church that morning.

I only took the bowl of cooked wheat berries to church, as our slava bread was yet to be baked.
Almost looks like a celestial light is shining on us from up above...
Once the church service is finished, koljivo is taken back home.
Each guest will take a spoonful of sanctified koljivo, cross himself/herself and thank God over a clay pot with burning incense once the slava prayer is read out.
